This traditional knitting technique is becoming increasingly popular. The distinctive Fair Isle style is complex however having visited Shetland and had grassroots teaching Helen is well served to teach the technique. In this class you will learn-
- How to knit with two colours which produces Fair Isle knitting
- How to read charts
- How to knit in the round using double pointed needles
- Stranding and weaving
- You will also learn about steeked knitting.
For this class you need to be able to knit and cast on. Full notes to take away provided
If you have needles and yarn you would like to use then feel free to bring them, 4 ply yarn and four appropriately sized dpn’s but don’t worry if you haven’t or you forget we have more than enough to go round.
You will learn from experienced teacher Helen Chatterton in her accessible studio located in Summerhall. This class will have a maximum of 6 students and you will be provided with cake and drinks. There will be an hour for lunch from 1-2pm.
