Healthy Movement for Falls Prevention - Balance is key!
April Falls Month® is an annual campaign to raise awareness about the impact of falls and to promote the latest best practice fall prevention strategies. The overall campaign goal is to get active and improve balance for fall prevention.
Guest speakers include:
Dr Weihong Zhang - Lecturer (Teaching and Research),Discipline of Occupational Therapy
Sydney School of Health Sciences,Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) USYD- who will discuss aspects of the ageing process that may increase your fall risk, and provide some recommendations to counteract these factors and improve your ability to stay on your feet.
Dr Jacki Wesson - Senior Lecturer(Teaching and Research), Discipline of Occupational Therapy, School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health(FMH) USYD - who will talk about behaviours and habits to improve safety at home and demonstrate some simple exercises to improve your strength and balance.
Trish Lynch - Healthy Ageing - Health Promotion Unit - Sydney Local Health District - who will talk about falls prevention programs and initiatives in the community.
You will have an opportunity to ask questions in a Q and A.
