Join Transport Historian Peter Hughes for the book launch of Wheels within Wheels: A history of Sydney’s Buses, is based on documents and reports in the State Library of NSW, State Records NSW and Bus and Coach Association (NSW) and then enjoy the museum at your own leisure.

Peter Hughes, the author, gained a BA with First Class Honours and a PhD from Western Sydney University for his research, now encapsulated in this 423-page full-colour book.

Subjects include:

• Private buses from 1904 and Government buses from 1932

• Wartime constraints and post-war difficulties

• Replacement of trams by buses

• Transport co-ordination: why it didn’t work

• The so-called free school travel scheme: why it didn’t work

A must for not only history fans but people with an interest in how politics affects life on our streets.
