About this event

The first of our journey’s together, a series of practices to encourage daily sadhana in your life. The essence of this style of offering is to enhance your experience and allow us to dive deeper over a succession of time to unfold the layers of self + land deeper into the practice.

You’ll be guided to explore stillness, how often to you get the opportunity to relish in the space in between. To find complete stillness and a return to presence, leaving the past behind + the future to come, simply to BE HERE NOW (as Ram Dass would say).

This class is suitable for both the seasoned yogi and beginner practitioner. Medicine for the modern mind, coming back to basics with less postures and longer holds, you are guided to become the observer as the lower mind comes to the surface - with practice, allowing you to find peace in every moment, on and off the mat (whatever life throws at you).

When: Every Friday 9:30am in May

Class Length: 60 minutes

Where: Activity Room at Burleigh Waters Community Centre

Bring: Please bring your yoga mat. You may also like to bring a cushion or a bolster (if you have one) to provide extra support during seated pranayama + meditation. If you are more likely to feel cool, I suggest bringing a shawl or a light blanket.

Classes are capped at an intimate number (5-8)

A little bit more about the practice philosphy;

Traditional Hatha Yoga

Medicine for the modern mind. The science of SOUL. Our yoga classes are based on Moon, Sun, Fire practice philosophy and will move your practice beyond the physical, guiding you towards a deeper connection to self + soul. Incorporating simple postures, slow movement and longer holds in intelligently sequenced order for the energetic purpose of class. Each practice is a ‘Complete Practice’ (Sarvangha Sadhana), including Asana (physical postures), Pranayama (breath techniques) and meditation.

Moon Practice

Moon classes have a focus on cultivating a calm and stable mind, allowing your body and mind to let go and release what is no longer beneficial to you. Grounding back into your body. Moon practice allows you to digest and assimilate information at a physical, emotional and energetic level. Allowing you permission to soften, regulate and de-stress your nervous system. Returning to the connection of your body, mind, heart + soul.

Sun Practice

“Once the moon has been made steady, the sun can be made to rise". Bringing the grounded and calm qualities of the moon with us, Sun classes have a focus on expanding our capacity and sensitising to Prana (energy), so that we can work with it on a deeper level.

Leaving you feeling calmly radiant, confident , a boost in vitality and more connected to the subtle energy body. Enlivening mind, body, heart + soul.

Fire Practice

“Igniting the radiant power of Soul” - Fire practice is an illumination process. With an emphasis of cultivating ‘internal heat’ centred in the navel with the inclusion of deeper work with Bandha, Mudra and Mantra to still the mind, cultivate energy and burn through limitations.

Fire practice allows you to safely call forth dormant spiritual power (Kundalini Shakti) and transform it into Prana Shakti (activated power) resulting in the meditative absorption into higher spiritual centres.

Frequently asked questions

Is this class suitable for a beginner?

Yes. Lunar Hatha Yoga is perfect for beginners, in fact cultivating a calm mind is the most important step for any practitioner. Incorporating simple postures, slow movement and longer holds will allow you to feel the essence of practice without feeling overwhelmed.

Where is the class held?

We are located in the Activity Room at Burleigh Waters Community Centre. When you enter the facility, turn right and from there it is the first door on the right.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring your yoga mat. You may also like to bring a cushion or a bolster (if you have one) to provide extra support during seated pranayama + meditation. If you are more likely to feel cool, I suggest bringing a shawl or a light blanket.

Do I need to be flexible?

As my teachers teacher says, "Flexibility is inconsequential on the path of yoga". Stability + calming the fluctuations of the mind are most important. So instead, i'll invite you to become the witness of your mind, + to simply accept yourself as you are. Yoga is much more than stretching.

Organized by

An invitation to move beyond + trust in the unknown.

Ether; both nothing and everything at the same time. It’s the stillness, yet it’s the very thing that makes all movement and life possible. It is the element that connects us with spirit, intuition + that which is beyond the physical.

Sol; an ode to the sun, that radiates from within. The light which emanates from your soul, that shines upon and liberates the darkness. Like the sun kissing your skin, exuding warmth, peace and a sense of renewal.

Ether + Sol is an expression of the balance between feminine and masculine energies, a place to experience the sweetness of the space in between and a cultivation of energy that allows you to experience your light in full. To return home, to soul. A safe space for you to be guided beyond your limitations, to heal, find stillness and deeply embody a peaceful state to access your innate self + ultimately freedom from within.
