About this event

  • 2 hours 30 minutes

Join us for our fifth and final 'Conversations and Screenings' event for the year, before the Made in Palestine team returns to Palestine to continue our humanitarian work in the West Bank.

Screening the Palestinian documentary 'Arna's Children'. Dir. Juliano Mer Khamis and Danniel Danniel (2004). With live conversation with Olive Kids board member, Mohammad Othman. All proceeds from this event will be donated to Olive Kids.

ABOUT THE FILM:

The film documents the building of the Freedom Theatre, an alternative education system for the children of Jenin Refugee Camp. The film highlights the lives on each child, against the ongoing presence of occupation, uprisings and resistance. Following the 2002 Battle of Jenin, the filmmakers return to the Refugee Camp in search of the children they taught.

ABOUT THE GUEST SPEAKER:

Mohammad is a Palestinian Australian and the son of refugees from Qalunya, a town which was destroyed in the Nakba of 1948. Through his family's heritage and a deep connection to his homeland, Mohammad is determined to passionately advocate for Palestine and support its people, which led him to Olive Kids in 2013. Olive Kids works tirelessly with their partners on the ground in Gaza, delivering emergency aid to Palestinian children and their families.
