Most existing homes in Australia perform poorly when it comes to energy efficiency, built to an average rating of 1.8 stars - closer to a tent, rather than the 7-star standard that will apply from 2023 to newly built homes. This increases power bills and carbon emissions, and affects the comfort and wellbeing of the people living in those homes.
Energy Consumers Australia and Renew commissioned SEC Newgate to ask home-owners, landlords and renters their views on improving the energy performance of their homes, and where they see benefits or encounter barriers.
We are pleased to announce that Senator Jenny McAllister, the Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy, will launch the research report at our Energy Efficient Homes Roundtable.
We invite you to join us to hear the headline findings from this rich evidence base, and to join us in a discussion on its implications for policy, and how we can help ensure all Australians live in affordable and comfortable homes.
