Following their triumphant tours across Sydney, Brisbane, Tasmania, Canberra, and their acclaimed performances overseas across Europe and the USA, this multi-award-winning ensemble brings their unparalleled artistry to the iconic Melbourne Town Hall on Friday 2nd August 2024.

Event Highlights:

The first half of the concert will delve into the deep and sacred Russian Orthodox liturgical compositions by some of the finest choral composers such as Sergei Rachmaninoff, Pavel Chesnokov, Dmitriy Bortniansky, and Alexander Grechaninov. The ancient melodies harmonised by the premier composers, coupled with ROMCA's pitch-perfect and precise delivery is set to transport you to a realm of spiritual serenity and timeless beauty.

The second half will embark on a musical journey through Russia's rich cultural tapestry with stories of hope, love and despair being reborn through dynamic and unique folk songs. There may even be a hint of Italian, Ukranian and English in the repertoire - something for everyone!

Adding a vibrant visual dimension to the evening, the local Russian dance ensemble 'Rusichi' will take over the stage with their exquisite choreography, enhancing the enchantment of this cultural extravaganza.

Organized by

The Russian Orthodox Male Choir of Australia consists of professionally trained singers who have a love and passion for singing Orthodox choral music and traditional Slavic folk music showcasing the Russian emigre history and culture.

The choristers of ROMCA were all born in Australia and are either third or fourth generation immigrants of predominantly Russian background with the youngest choristers being in their late teens.

The choristers are not all singers by profession, however several of them have received professional vocal training and come together as volunteers on a weekly basis to learn new repertoire and rehearse for upcoming projects.

The choir features a variety of soloists including professionally trained counter tenors and tenors to world class basso-profundo’s.
