Eastern Long-necked Turtles live in any body of slow-moving fresh water, including creeks, lakes, farm dams and permanent and ephemeral wetlands, as in the ponds at Yarran Dheran. We know they hibernate in the winter as most of our reported sightings are made in the summer months – which is when they seek food and sometimes breed. We also know they are carnivorous, feeding on insects, moths, flies and worms. But what else is there to know about these vulnerable creatures?
