Event description:

As part of Law Week 2024 this webinar will examine the multiple ways restorative justice practices and processes are currently being used in our community as a response to harm. By hearing from a range of people involved in restorative justice practice, it will highlight how RJ can respond to the needs of victims and provide healing and resolution in ways the traditional legal process cannot. It will demonstrate how restorative justice processes have the capacity for social transformation, shifting of power and changing lives.

Learning outcomes:

Expanding the community and the legal profession’s understanding of restorative justice

Highlighting the benefits of restorative justice in response to a broad range of harm contexts including harm caused by individuals, as well as institutions

Encouraging the community and the legal profession to consider how restorative justice can be used creatively as a complementary, alternative and victim centred response to harm.
