Definitions

Participants will learn a foundational approach to problem solving and decision making that recognises the eight essential elements of a challenge. Before then, participants will get their hands dirty by working through a case study!

Making Decisions

In this session we will explore the world of decision making. Types of decisions. Discover how to turn information into facts staying clear of the pit falls along the way.

Getting Real

By studying up on pre assignments they will get a sense of how they solve problems before, and review those experiences to see what works best and can be used most effectively in the future.

The Problem-Solving Model

This session equips participants, with a toolset to overcome any obstacle they may face. They will then use this new knowledge to assess two case studies. Participants will learn these skills via a one-day workshop.

The Toolkit, for Problem Solving

This session we are going to analyse nine creative approaches to problem-solving – seven methods and two advanced techniques. Participants also have an opportunity to experiment with more fluid thinking methods, including brainstorming and brainwriting to come up with solutions!

And participants will demonstrate some of the knowledge they’ve gained by attempting to solve a tough case study… All of this is designed to learn the ‘how-to’ that will help participants apply and use it in practice.

Exploring SWOT Analysis

Participants will learn how to conduct a ‘SWOT’ analysis, identifying opportunities for their organisation in the external environment, and leveraging the unique qualities of their organisation’s internal environment to most effectively capitalise on those opportunities. Learn to identify problems and develop competencies to find solutions!

Effective Group Decision Making

Next, participants will learn what it takes to solve problems as a group. Additionally they’ll learn, what kinds of decision-making strategies can be best made use of. Explore how.

Choosing Solutions

This session delves into the step of problem solving; analysing options and making decisions. Mastering the art of decision-making could be the secret to your success!

Planning and Organiszation

This course will take you through the action phase of problem-solving: when you have the tools to create your strategies and action plans; when you have the methods to evaluate your outcomes, change your goals, and celebrate your victories. You will be on your way to actually accomplishing something!

Wrapping Up the Workshop

At the end of the course participants will have the opportunity to pose questions and seek a strategy for implementation.
