About this event

Friday 3rd August and Saturday 4th August.

We welcome all who are actively working to support compassionate Ageing, Dying and Grieving in Aotearoa to join us at Tangatarua Marae .

  • Networking, engagement, education, fun and sharing with other like-minded community groups and how we can best support each other in this mahi.


  • Topics include: Mana motuhake in life and death: Māori and assisted dying in Aotearoa New Zealand, NODA-Nobody Dies Alone, Natural burials, Grief and loss, Alternatives to Embalming and After Death Care.


  • An optional Harakeke shroud making demonstration will be held Sunday 4th August. Limited Spaces are available.

Compassionate registrations

We are taking a limited number of Compassionate Registrations at $150.00

The criteria for Compassionate Entry is

- beneficiaries or retirees or

- students in full time study or

- active in own community in not for profit mahi about end of life care


There will be a small number of full scholarships available with the same criteria as above.


Applications for both close on 10th June 2024.

Tangatarua Marae will be available on the nights of Friday 2nd and Saturday 3rd of August.

Sheet, pillow and pillowcase will be provided but bring your own duvet and breakfast.

Please let us know when you register if you wish to stay at the marae by purchasing a ticket

Kai

Morning and Afternoon Tea and Lunch will be provided on Friday and Saturday.


There will be a hangi buffet dinner and drinks at spectacular Te Puia on Saturday 3rd of August, just across the road from Tangatarua Marae. www.tepuia.com

This dinner is optional and to be self-funded.

Come and join us for a unique cultural dining experience in Te Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley.
