Tailored for Support Coordinators, Plan Managers, Disability Advocates and those who passionately support and engage with those in the disabilities sector.

Oshin Gupta from People with Disability Australia, Shannon Payne from Therapy Pro and Stewart Pope from McArthur Health Supports will be hosting an incredible event at the lovely Stanton Library.

Commencing with the speakers providing their in depth knowledge on community access, from schools to hospitals, followed by Q&A and wrapping up with a lovely networking session where everyone can enjoy sharing a bit about one another.

Oshin Gupta from PWDA:

With a master's in social work from Western Sydney University, Oshin is passionate about removing the structural barriers and ensuring the rights of people with disabilities.

Oshin has over six years of experience in the disability sector, where she has led, supported, and managed teams, coordinated and delivered NDIS services for over 100 clients, and built healthy relationships with senior stakeholders. Her goal is to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve their goals and to foster inclusion and collaboration among all the relevant sectors.

Oshin's topic:

Disability Advocacy Futures Program PWDA provides free information services and advocacy assistance to students with disability living in NSW. The Futures Education Program specialises in helping school-aged children and young people with disability in NSW Public Schools. It is funded by the NSW Department of Communities and Justice and NSW Department of Education.

The child does not need to have NDIS to seek our free advocacy supports neither does the parents needs citizenship or PR to engage with our program.

Shannon Payne from Therapy Pro:

Shannon's topic:

How a person-centred approach to therapy, working holistically with the team, carers, and family around the participant, best facilitates community access.

Stewart Pope from McArthur Health Supports:

Stewart is a registered nurse with over 30 years of experience working in the Acute Health, Community Health and Disability Sectors. He then pivoted into community health projects and working in the disability sector to assist young children making the transtion home from hospital while being mechanically ventilated. Then for 20 years, Stewart defined a system of delegated care in SA. He is a member of the Spinal Injury Nurses Association, Otolaryngology Head and Neck Nursing Group, Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation and a Clinical Lead for Disability.

Stewart's topic:

How to bridge the gap between the hospital and the community, and considerations for those transitioning including available resources, constraints and gaps.

Is parking available?

Ridge St Car Park is the best option, just behind the library. First hour is $9 then $6.90 per half hour after that. Otherwise, street parking is available but as it's North Sydney, please plan to arrive a few minutes before if you'd like to try for street parking :)

Is the venue accessible?

Absolutely! There is an elevator and it's completely wheelchair-friendly.
