Purpose: NSW Labor Rules H.12 requires that:
At least once each term, Local Government Committees may convene a local government assembly of all Party members in the local government area, to discuss Labor’s policy and approach in local government.
a) All Labor councillors, or candidates if appropriate, will be expected to attend.
b) Branches and Party Units are invited to send all relevant agenda items to the Local Government Committee, which will determine the agenda for the assembly.
c) The Local Government Committee will ensure that all branches are aware of the assembly. Local Government Committees in an area may decide to hold a combined councils assembly. Local Government Committees will have the responsibility of organising the assembly, subject

Format:
· The event will run for two hours with a break for light refreshments
· It will involve three modules of 25 minutes each during which attendees will self-sort into four groups based on interest (or where they live), each with a key theme and a facilitator |
· Ideas discussed will be recorded on butchers paper and reported at the end of the session. Some ideas that have been submitted by branches in advance will be added in advance of the meeting to save time
· Branches are encouraged to discuss local government matters at their branch meetings ahead of the Assembly in order to have some ideas ready to contribute
· A run-sheet has been circulated to branch secretaries.
