Art is a powerful tool to heal and connect with yourself and others. It is not just for children or the professionals! Join me from the privacy of your own home online or onsite in studio this winter live from GANG GANG Gallery to connect to yourself via the freedom of textural abstraction in a CHROMOTHERAPY ABSTRACTION ART WORKSHOP as part of the Art Through a Designers Lens exhibition co curated with Jo Albany and Kate St James. Catherine Whitting

Use impasto and acrylic on canvas with Catherine Whitting to create a colour composition to coordinate with your interior

Workshop starts at 12:00 noon and runs till 3.00pm. You can come into the GANG GANG Studio Gallery and paint onsite with Catherine or participate via MS teams from the privacy of your own home as you follow a live video tutorial on textural composition .

Discover art as transformation. As a piece of art progresses during the creative process, so does the artist. Both grow and change to acquire new meaning. Art making often reflects one's "lived experience". Connecting to colour and texture in a process of abstraction is both empowering and enabling. Abstraction provides a unique abandonment of representational intentions, with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. Let go and make art.

Catherine will meet you at GANG GANG GALLERY lithgow - or online via the MS teams link , for an introductory demonstration with time to make sketches to compose your personal responses colour and texture, you can follow the demonstration or vary your composition using similar techniques.

Catherine Whitting

Catherine Whitting has exhibited her work throughout Australia and New Zealand since 1992 in public exhibitions and competitions. Whitting employs an impasto style of painting in her artmaking, she weaves bold tactile colours with mixed media, such as newsprint and found objects in a three dimensional manner with fast sweeping motions.
