CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations is the qualification needed to apply for a security agent licence with the Department of Consumer and Business Services.

As a CRICOS registered training organisation, Skills Training College Darwin's training services are available for eligible domestic students, and international students at select locations across Australia.

Completing this course is a necessary first step toward employment in entry level security roles in either the public and private security industry. Among the possible career opportunities available upon completing this course are the following:

• Security guard or security officer
• Licensed crowd controllers venues or major or sporting events
• Control room operator
• Unarmed guard
• Loss prevention officer

Course Overview

• Apply risk assessment to protect persons and security clients such as individuals, venues, major events, establishments, or their personal effects
• Control access to and monitor property
• Conflict management
• Enact evacuation procedures
• Safely remove intoxicated persons if necessary
• Provide emergency first aid skills

Enrolment & Eligibility
There are no prior academic qualifications or knowledge required to enrol in CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations. However, there are entry requirements which must be met before one can enrol in security courses, and it is each student’s personal responsibility to ensure they meet them. To meet the entry requirements to enrol in our security training course you must;

• Be at least 18 years old
• Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident
• Possess basic physical fitness
• Possess effective verbal and written English skills
• Possess competent numeracy skills
• Have your own laptop, tablet, or other device to bring to class for the face-to-face training components

It is also strongly recommended you first complete a criminal history check. Students may not be eligible to apply for Certificate II in Security Operations if they have been convicted of a disqualifying offence in the last ten years or are a “close associate” of criminals. A list of offences serious enough to automatically disqualify potential applicants is available from the Northern Territory government here. Delivery Method
For domestic students, CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations uses a blended delivery method. We combine independent, self-paced online learning consisting of a series of multiple choice questions with in-person, practical training. We strongly recommend completing the online portion first to prepare for your face-to-face training. Practical classes run over fulltime hours, beginning 9am and continuing until 5pm each weekday over five days, with additional self-paced exams for you to complete at home.

If any student has first aid training certificate they have completed prior to this security course and they can provide evidence, they will have one fewer days in-person classes needed to attend.

Fees

The fee for domestic students is a single upfront payment of AU$599 for the entire course, including a $100 non refundable enrolment fee.

After completing CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations, you will be eligible to apply for a security agent licence. Applications come with additional costs charged by the Northern Territory government, which are not included in your course fee.
