La CACC est fière de lancer son Comité Québécois. Lors de son événement inaugural à Montréal, nous explorerons les synergies qui existent entre le Québec et l'Australie grâce au commerce bilatéral. Voici un portrait des dernières années:

Depuis 2018, l’Accord de Partenariat transpacifique global et progressiste (PTPGP), alors entré en vigueur, a entraîné une croissance du commerce bilatéral entre le Canada et l'Australie de 8,7 % par année, de 2018 à 2022. Les exportations canadiennes étaient alors évaluées à 5,4 milliards de dollars et les importations, à 3,6 milliards de dollars. Depuis 2023, le commerce bilatéral est stable à 5,8 milliards de dollars.

L'investissement canadien direct envers l’Australie s'élève maintenant à 58,3 milliards de dollars, tandis que l'investissement direct étranger de l'Australie au Canada est à 27,2 milliards de dollars.

Avec son fort accent sur l'Asie et son climat d'affaires favorable, de nombreuses entreprises canadiennes voient l'Australie comme un tremplin vers la région dynamique de l'Asie du Sud-Est.

The CACC is pleased to launch the Québec Committee. In this inaugural Montréal event, we explore the synergy between Quebec and Australia in building a vibrant green economy through two-way trade.

In 2023, two-way merchandise trade between Canada and Australia remained stable at $5.8 billion. Canadian exports were valued at $5.4 billion. Imports were valued at $3.6 billion. The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), which came into force in 2018, has resulted in an annual 8.7% growth in bilateral merchandise trade between Canada and Australia from 2018 to 2022. Canadian direct investment into Australia amounted to $58.285 billion. Australia’s foreign direct investment into Canada totalled $27.221 billion. With its strong focus on Asia and its favourable business climate, many Canadian companies see Australia as a springboard to the booming Southeast Asian region.

In our panel discussion we explore the synergy between Quebec and Australia in building a vibrant green economy. Jean-François Béland

Jean-François Béland s’est joint à Investissement Québec en 2021 à titre de vice-président, Ressources Québec. Depuis février 2024, il occupe le poste de vice-président, Filières stratégiques. Il a été, de 2015 à 2021, vice-président, Stratégie et affaires corporatives de la société General Fusion inc. de Vancouver (Colombie-Britannique). Il a également travaillé, de 2007 à 2015, chez AREVA S.A., à Paris et Toronto, notamment comme vice-président exécutif d’AREVA Canada inc. Avant son passage dans l’industrie, il a œuvré au sein de la fonction publique du Canada et au Cabinet du premier ministre du Canada, à titre de conseiller en politiques sur les questions de gouvernance et le Conseil du Trésor.

M. Béland est diplômé de l’Université de Montréal (B. Sc.), de l’École nationale d’administration publique (M.A.P. et diplôme d’études supérieures spécialisées en administration publique), de l’École des hautes études commerciales (diplôme d’études supérieures spécialisées en gestion), de Bordeaux École de Management (M.B.A.), de l’Université Paris IX Dauphine (M. Sc., gestion stratégique) et de l’Université de la Colombie-Britannique (certificat en gestion de projets). En 2014, il a terminé avec succès le Senior Nuclear Plant Management Course (SNPM).

Jean-François Béland est chevalier de l’Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur de France et membre du conseil consultatif de la Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science de l'Université Concordia. Il siège également à titre de trésorier au conseil d’administration de la Fondation du Collège de Montréal.

Jean-François Béland joined Investissement Québec in 2021 as Vice-President, Ressources Québec. Since February 2024, he has held the position of Vice-President, Strategic Initiatives. From 2015 to 2021, he applied his management expertise in the cleantech sector as Vice-President, Strategy and Corporate Affairs at General Fusion Inc., based in Vancouver, British Columbia. From 2007 to 2015, he was employed by AREVA S.A. in Paris andToronto, chiefly as Executive Vice-President of AREVA Canada Inc. Before he launched his career path in the private sector, Mr. Béland gained extensive experience in the Canadian civil service and in the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada as an advisor on governance policies and the Treasury Board of Canada.

Mr. Béland is a graduate of Université de Montréal (B.Sc.), École nationale d’administration publique (MPA and post-graduate diploma in public administration), École des hautes études commerciales (post-graduate diploma in management), Bordeaux École de Management (MBA), Université Paris IX Dauphine (M.Sc., strategic management) and University of British Columbia (project management certificate). In 2014, he completed the Senior Nuclear Plant Management course (SNPM).

Mr. Béland is a Knight [Chevalier] of the National Order of the French Legion of Honour and a member of the Advisory Board of the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, Concordia University. He also sits as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Fondation du Collège de Montréal.

Natacha Garoute, CPA, LLB

Ms. Garoute is an experienced executive with over 20 years of experience in publicly traded and mining companies with international exposure. She most recently held the position of CFO at Champion Iron Ore (ASX 200 & TSX) and was CFO and Corporate Secretary with Roxgold Inc. (TSX) between 2013 and 2018. Throughout her career, Ms. Garoute led the Finance and Information Technology functions, including tax and treasury. She also has expertise in Project Finance, Capital Markets, and Investor Relations.

Ms. Garoute, CPA holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Quebec in Montreal and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Montreal. She was an Independent Director and member of the Audit Committee and the ESG Committee of Aya Gold and Silver Inc., a silver producer listed on the TSX.

Zonika Ramsey

Chief Financial Officer, Battery Metals

Zonika Ramsey is a chartered accountant with over 25 years’ experience in audit and resource companies including Deloitte, BHP and Rio Tinto.

Zonika has extensive experience across the mining and marine industries in a variety of corporate and operational financial leadership roles at senior levels. She has led the Rio Tinto Treasury as Interim Group Treasurer, has been involved in large scale change initiatives and business turnarounds, and is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Rio Tinto Battery Materials.

Zonika is a member of the Australian Institute of Directors and has previously served as a director of several entities with mining, marine and investing activities.

Rosemarie Bégin

Rosemarie Bégin est Directrice principale de la pratique Économie et Politiques Publiques chez PwC. Titulaire d'un baccalauréat et d'une maîtrise en économie, elle se spécialise dans l'évaluation et la modélisation des impacts socio-économiques des grands projets industriels. Son expertise inclut également l'analyse des facteurs d'attractivité des juridictions et des politiques publiques qui en favorisent le développement. Ces dernières années, Rosemarie a piloté plusieurs missions stratégiques dans le domaine de la filière batterie, y compris des études sur les minéraux critiques. Elle accompagne ses clients dans la compréhension des dynamiques macro-économiques qui influencent leurs décisions d'investissement et élabore des stratégies pour atténuer les risques associés.

With a bachelor's and a master's degree in economics, she specializes in the assessment and modeling of socio-economic impacts for major industrial projects. Recently, Rosemarie has led several strategic initiatives in the battery sector, including critical mineral studies. She guides her clients through the complexities of macroeconomic dynamics that affect their investment decisions and crafts strategies to mitigate associated risks.

Chantal recently joined CDPQ Global as Director of Regulatory Affairs after over a decade in politics and diplomacy, having worked in Québec City, Paris, and Ottawa, before returning to Montreal, the city she calls home. After studies in Communications, Political Science, Law, and International Relations at Concordia University, Sciences Po Paris, and Université de Montréal, Chantal worked in the Québec and Canadian public service for a wide range of mandates, from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to Global Affairs Canada, and including four years at the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada in senior roles on the Communications team. Prior to joining CDPQ, she was Deputy Chief of Staff to Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Managing Partner, Global Advisory - PwC

Mike McGrath currently sits on PwC’s Global Advisory Leadership Team as the Managing Partner of Finance & Investments. Mike also has global accountability for PwC’s Managed Services Business as well as the firm’s Global Delivery Network of Acceleration and Delivery Centres. Previously Mike was the Managing Partner of Clients & Markets at PwC Australia.

With more than 30 years of industry experience, Mike has worked in the telecommunications, consulting, and information technology sectors across the European, Asia-Pacific, and North American markets. Prior to his transition to PwC, Mike was a Vice-President at Bell Canada. He has led Consumer and Business P&L’s and has worked in the IT, strategy, networks, operations, product management and sales and marketing arenas.

Philippe Pourreaux is a Partner in the Value Creation, Deals practice at PwC Canada. He is also Quebec and Eastern Canada’s Energy, Utilities and Mining Deal sector leader. Philippe has over 24 years of corporate and advisory experience focusing on data-driven decision making. His areas of expertise include business strategy, operations, financial modelling, analytical modelling, and investment and transactional advisory, and CFO office activities.

Philippe plays a key role in leading PwC’s Global Critical and Strategic Minerals working group and in participating in PwC’s Global Hydrogen and Fuel of the Future working group. He focuses on energy transition and decarbonisation.

Philippe graduated with an MBA from HEC Montreal and holds a CFA designation. He volunteers on the Board of Governors for Concordia University. Prior to joining PwC in 2018, Philippe worked in various corporate strategy and financial roles, most notably at Rio Tinto Aluminum, Bombardier Aerospace, Secor Consulting and National Bank of Canada.

Philippe Pourreaux est Associé au sein de la pratique Création de Valeur et Transaction de PwC.
