Join industry leaders in a collaborative masterclass addressing ethical decision-making and the impacts of communication which underpin Restrictive Practice Matters.

Your experts are: Sharon Paley, Dr Fiona Davis, Dr Tracy Roxbury

Sharon has worked in education, forensic disability services and community services for people with risk behaviour before moving into roles developing policy, procedure, and practice guidance for Government departments in the UK and Australia. Published on topics including reducing and eliminating restrictive practices, PBS and complex healthcare she is an experienced keynote speaker. With experience as an expert witness, she is on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Positive Behavioural Support and is Vice President of the Professional Association of Developmental Disability Nurses Australia

Fiona is a highly respected practitioner in the disability and mental health fields, with over 30 years of industry experience. Her extensive background in health and behavioural science, psychotherapy, behavioural therapy, clinical and practice supervision, and her new challenge of becoming an occupational therapist, have made her a leading authority in Positive Behaviour Support.

Throughout her career, Fiona has been dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities and their families. She has worked extensively with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, dual diagnosis (disability and mental health), and challenging behaviours. Fiona’s commitment to providing high-quality services to her clients is evident in her exceptional work and the positive outcomes she has achieved.

As our PBS Practice Supervisor, Fiona is responsible for supporting our team of practitioners, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible care and support, and building knowledge and experience both within Mindcare Mental Health Services but also more broadly across the sector, through participation in a range of sector driven initiatives and programs.

Tracy is a dually qualified speech pathologist/teacher. Tracy became a teacher after completing a French degree and taught for a number of years in primary schools in the UK with a special interest in the language curriculum. It was whilst Tracy was working as a teacher that she became aware of the speech pathology profession and decided to retrain as a speech pathologist.

Tracy has worked as a speech pathologist in New Zealand and Australia across both adult and pediatric populations, in hospital and community settings. Tracy has also worked as a lecturer and clinical educator at the University of Queensland. Since completing her PhD, Tracy has worked on NHMRC language recovery stroke projects for the University of Queensland, supervised research speech pathologists and PhD students, and has also taught into speech pathology degree programmes.

In 2020, Tracy joined CATTS as the professional supervisor for speech pathology, a role she thoroughly enjoys as it enables her to provide individual and group mentorship and guidance to the speech pathologists at CATTS, in order that they can develop as happy, confident, autonomous practitioners. Over Tracy’s career, language and literacy have been a central interest and she has recently started a specialist literacy clinic in Maroochydore to support children, adolescents, and young adults with persisting language and literacy deficits. Tracy is Sounds-Write trained and integrates this evidence-based linguistic phonics approach into her reading, spelling, and writing therapy sessions.
