About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

You're warmly invited to join us for a special workshop titled "A Reserve in My Backyard" tailored specifically for local residents residing near the Seven Hills bushland reserve. This workshop is designed to explore ways of being a good bushland neighbour and offer practical advice on maintaining your backyard in harmony with the Seven Hills Bushland Reserve.

The workshop will cover strategies on managing backyards so that weeds don't escape. As well as strategies to attract native wildlife to your bit of the bush. If you want to establish habitat in your gargen, we'll introduce you to local native plants and show you how to acquire and grow them. We'll also discuss fire safety and bushcare activities in the reserve.

The workshop is a joint initiative of local residents, Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee (B4C) and Brisbane City Council.

We'll supply morning tea, free native plants and information. There is no cost, but you must book a place as numbers are strictly limited.

Key Objectives of the Workshop:

· Provide practical guidance to property-holders neighbouring the Seven Hills Bushland Reserve on maintaining their backyard while upholding the principles of a good "bushland neighbour."

· Facilitate discussions to gather feedback, suggestions, and information concerning Bushcare activities and park management within the reserve.

· Initiate a dialogue on fire safety measures.

· Establish channels of communication between neighbours and Habitat Brisbane Bushcare volunteers.

Workshop Agenda:

· Registration and Introduction

· Invasive Weed Escape and Remediation

Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee Inc. (B4C) was established as an incorporated catchment and landcare group in 1997. The success of our organisation has been achieved to a major degree by the efforts and outcomes of our services provided by the Ecosystem Services Unit.

As a Social Enterprise, we reinvest the majority of our profits in supporting the environment and the community.

Our activities with the community are undertaken through education and school projects, supporting bushcare groups when requested and by providing the community opportunities to be involved in tree planting, weeding and working on waterways and bushlands.
