They say that, on average, it would take nine hours to present an 80,000-word thesis to a live audience. You have three minutes.

3-Minute Thesis (3MT) is a competition held annually for Higher Degree Research candidates across the university, the country and the world. In just three minutes, using only a single static slide, participants present their research in a human and compelling way – what they’re doing, how they’re doing it, and why.

This training workshop, presented by Hugh Milligan (Graduate Research), will cover the benefits, rules and judging criteria of the competition, as well as tips and tricks to help you prepare and deliver your speech. You'll also look at videos of past winners and finalists, and examine the techniques they've used to create masterful and compelling performances.

Whether you're keen to compete already, or would just like to learn more about 3MT before making a decision, you're welcome to join us.

Three training workshops will be held in June. All three are identical, so pick the date/location you prefer.
