OWASP Brisbane Chapter Meeting - May 2014
Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM (EST)
In May's meeting, Robert Lee will present on the topic "Assessment of Android Application Access Permissions".
The aim of this project was to analyse the access permissions required by various Android applications and identify "bad eggs", e.g. applications which request permissions such as making phone calls, reading and writing text messages, change system settings when they do not require those permissions for the 'purpose' of the app. This will include an overview of Android apps available to assess app permissions. We will also discuss Android malware in general, other freely available Android research projects as well as relevant OWASP resources and an overview of Android application penetration testing.
Rob is an Information Security Consultant originally from Dublin with over nine years' experience. Rob is a CISSP and has worked in various infosec related areas including penetration testing, threat and risk assessments, SCADA assessments and forensics and incident response.
