Women's International League for Peace and Freedom

The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) is an international non-profit anti-war and peace-building organisation of volunteers that brings women together to oppose conflict, violence and global militarisation.

We’ve been doing this since 1915, making us the longest-surviving women’s anti-war organisation in the world.

We cover all continents with our 32 national Sections (more every year), an office in New York and an international secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, home to some of the world’s most important organisations, and we never miss a chance to promote women’s right and responsibility to take on leadership roles in all aspects of peace and security.

Our approach is always non-violent, and we use existing international legal and political frameworks to achieve fundamental change in how states conceptualise and address issues of gender, militarism, peace and security.

Our strength lies in our ability to link the international level with the local level. We are very proud to be one of the first organisations to gain consultative status (category B) with the United Nations (UN), and the only women’s anti-war organisation so recognised.
