The Disabled Surfing Association - Bass Coast

The Disabled Surfers Association of Australia is a benevolent charity run purely by volunteers and has sixteen branches across Australia and New Zealand.  The DSA has been in operation for over 30 years.

The Disabled Surfing Event we run each year in Inverloch involves taking people with any disability for a surf on broken waves in waist depth water with a minimum ratio of 1 surfer to 6 volunteers, although there are typically 20 volunteers on hand to assist the surfer.  Surfers assume the most comfortable position on the board which is typically laying or sitting and this sometimes includes specially made floatation devices which sit on the board and can also provide support.

Our ultimate goal is to 'Make Someone's Summer'!
