The Crawford Fund

The Crawford Fund is a non-profit, non-government organisation that works to raise awareness of the benefits to Australia and developing countries from international agricultural research, encourages young Australians in their studies, careers and volunteering in agriculture for development, commissions studies on research policy and practice, and arranges specialist training activities for scientists in developing countries.

What is international agricultural research (IAR)?
IAR is agricultural research specifically designed to benefit developing countries (their farmers, their local and regional environments and their economies) and to foster mutual understanding. Since the majority of people in least-developed countries live in rural areas and are dependent on the land for employment and food security, support for agricultural research is one of the most effective ways that Australia can assist in their ongoing development.
