SBA's Kitchen
Julie at SBA’s Kitchen conducts hands-on cooking and knowledge sharing experiences, tailored to your needs, and held at your venue, or in your own home, in Gippsland, Victoria.
About me:
I was very lucky to be brought up in a small country town in Victoria. The gardens of my parents, and both maternal and paternal grandparents, were inspirational, providing us with the bulk of fresh fruit and vegetables that graced our table, and of course an abundance of fresh flowers for the vases. We ate what was in season and preserved the excess.
These memories have always inspired me to travel a similar path. Any seasonal excess is preserved, and/or shared with family, friends and the community. The larder and freezer is always well stocked and provides the basis of many of the meals prepared in our kitchen, and there is always a selection of jams, sauces, etc that are set aside for hampers to be gifted to family and friends as Christmas gifts, or for special occasions.
For some, one of the problems with preserving is that you either keep what you have produced for a special occasion and never use it, or you actually don’t know what to do with the product once it has been squirreled away! I want to show you how to use your produce, whether it is fresh or preserved, to create beautiful food for yourself, your family and friends.
While I have a great deal of knowledge gleaned from my childhood, time with family, friends and colleagues, both in Australia and France, I am always learning something new, which is something that really excites me - I love to try this new knowledge out in the kitchen, wherever that kitchen may be!
It is this knowledge that I am keen to share with others...
Psst…
I also run a small catering company specialising in gluten free food, and I write a small blog called SBA’s Kitchen at Home.
