SAFS Researchers Society

The SAFS Researchers Society (SRS) is a research-focused society of the School of Agriculture and Food Sciences at the University of Queensland.

We are open to all students and postdocs with an interest in agriculture and food science and our mission is to create an energetic and supportive community for all SAFS Research Higher Degree (RHD) students and support them through the various stages of their candidature.

We aim to do this by encouraging collegiality and collaborations between students themselves and also with early career researchers and postdoctoral researchers within the school. The higher purpose of our society is to create an intimate network of early career researchers from a great diversity of backgrounds who feel included and appreciated and encourage development of their networking skills necessary in their future careers. We aim to do this by providing support to our members in both academic and social aspects of their lives. We are a new society (officially affiliated with UQ Union this March) but many activities have been held in the past among students in our school. Successful activities have included quarterly pot-luck lunches, annual writing retreats and casual gatherings.
