RMIT Design Archives

Founded in 2007 the RMIT Design Archives (RDA) ) holds a unique place among Australia’s collecting institutions for its exclusive focus on design practice across all disciplines. From automotive to fashion and architecture the Archives holds exemplary collections of some of Melbourne’s most important and influential post-war designers.

The Archives and its staff support research into Melbourne’s designed environments, design professions and practices by providing scholars with access to a diverse range of digital and analogue records. It contributes to the cultural life of the city by hosting public events and lending items from its collections to other institutions for exhibitions.

The RDA publishes a Journal twice a year, contributes to academic research, hosts practice-based research programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students and supports PhD candidates working with the collections.
