Queensland Police Museum
In 1864 Queensland became the fifth state to gain its own police department and since then every element of policing practice has evolved dramatically. The Queensland Police Museum (QPM) is dedicated to collecting, documenting, preserving and exhibiting the history of policing in this state. The QPM, located on the ground floor of Queensland police headquarters, is open to the public Monday to Thursday and on the last Sunday of the month (Feb-Nov).
The exhibition space incorporates 25 displays illustrating a range of policing themes. Our public programs include a tailored education program and monthly presentations featuring guest speakers from historical and crime-solving fields. The QPM utilises its archival resources, exhibitions and public programs to compare policing of today and of yesterday.
