Michelle Kember, Director at Q2

Michelle’s passion is creating meaningful online experiences and connections. With a keen eye for good design and site architecture, Michelle is equally as passionate about content useability, accessibility and ensuring her clients have the tools, skills and knowledge to manage websites and Intranets effectively.

With a long history in government and education, Michelle has a thorough understanding of the unique challenges these sectors face in building and managing large and complex digital websites. Although large digital and complex projects are her forte, Michelle is equally comfortable providing digital solutions to smaller corporations and businesses.

Michelle established her first digital agency in 2000, a freelance company providing digital content management and information architecture services to Government (local and State).

In 2009, Michelle merged her company with Alyka, which at that stage was a small digital agency, providing basic website solutions to SMEs. Michelle became a partner and Director of Alyka and together with the three original partners (Bernard Chia, Zion Ong and Douglas Lim), built Alyka to a team of 30 digital specialists, equipped to take on large, complex digital projects. During her tenure with Alyka, the company won several awards including:

  • BRW Top 100 Fast Starters Award 2013
  • Rising Stars Award 2013
  • Telstra Business Awards WA Finalist 2014.

With an extensive background and skill-set in user-experience, information architecture, digital reviews, strategies and training, Michelle’s expertise is regularly called upon by local, State and Commonwealth governments as well as universities, training institutes and schools. Her client list includes Road Safety Commission, Department of Water (Water for Food Program), Curtin University, Department of Treasury, West Coast Institute, Department of Transport, Department of Mines and Petroleum, City of Mandurah, City of Joondalup, City of Subiaco, City of Rockingham, City of Stirling, Pilbara Ports, City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and many more.

In 2015, Michelle sold her partnership in Alyka to start her own, smaller agency. Why? Basically, she missed working "on the tools" and also loves the flexibility she has been able to achieve in her new company, Q2.

In Michelle's spare time, she loves travelling, interior design, cooking, photography, gardening, caring for her menagerie and spending time with her daughter, husband, family and friends.
