Melbourne Rare Book Week at State Library Victoria

This annual festival for antiquarian book lovers is back at State Library Victoria with a packed program of events, expert speakers and extraordinary book treasures.

State Library Victoria is Australia’s oldest public library and a beautiful heritage building located in the heart of Melbourne. The Library’s distinctive spaces, from the 19th-century Ian Potter Queen’s Hall, to the contemporary theatrette are host to a diverse range of vibrant programming for all ages. Boasting beautiful surrounds, the Library is a welcoming place to languish on the lawn, play a game of giant chess or take in a pop-up event on the forecourt. Free exhibitions line the balconies of the majestic domed reading room; see Ned Kelly's armour and Jerilderie letter, Burke and Wills relics and a host of other treasures.

Enjoy books, music, newspapers, and free wi-fi and lockers.

Open daily, with a cafe and bookshop onsite.
