Maitland City and Visitor Economy
Maitland City Council's City and Visitor Economy section is responsible for facilitating a vibrant, diverse, and sustainable economy, and promoting Maitland as a great place to live, work, invest and visit.
In 2020, Maitland City Council developed a Destination Management Plan (DMP), in consultation with the community, local tourism operators, businesses, and the broader tourism industry. The DMP, which was adopted by Council in late 2020 provides a blueprint for tourism development in Maitland, and identifies four key focus areas being tourism product development, industry development, marketing and promotion, and visitor services.
Following on from this engagement and in line with Council's existing plans and programs, the City and Visitor Economy team intend to offer a series of informative and accessible industry development and capacity building opportunities relevant to local businesses. These initiatives include but are not limited to professional and business development workshops and seminars, online resources such as toolkits, familiarisation programs and networking events.
The City and Visitor Economy team encourages local businesses to participate in relevant programs and initiatives, and to make the most of the events and opportunities made available online and delivered within the region.
