Lawrence Easton - Artist and Teacher

I have been drawing or painting most of my life. I have worked in most media including pen, pastel, watercolour, acrylic and even sculpture but, as far as painting is concerned, my preferred medium is oil.

My style is largely realist and mostly representational. The majority of my work is in the genres of portraiture, landscapes or birds and animals (although I sometimes delve into some more unusual stuff from the far corners of my imagination, in my surrealist mode). My intent is not just to present an image but to try to convey a feeling and evoke an emotional response.

Teaching is tailored to suit beginners through to those at a more advanced level. Classes are based around oil painting and so explore the handling, application and techniques specific to oil paints but I also provide guidance and instruction in all aspects of creating paintings in general, regardless of medium.
