In2science - STEM peer mentoring in schools

In2science places STEM university students into high schools as peer mentors.

Over 10 weekly visits per semester mentors build meaningful relationships with secondary students and their teachers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics classes. Mentors help to engage students in these disciplines and inspire them to pursue STEM studies at school and beyond.

The program partners with schools via two delivery modes: metropolitan in-class mentoring and regional online eMentoring.

Our vision is to be Australia’s premier STEM outreach program, harnessing the power of peer mentoring so that all learners, regardless of their background, can realise their STEM potential.

Our mission is to help secondary school students realise their STEM potential by:

  • Increasing engagement in STEM for improved student outcomes, particularly for under-represented groups
  • Increasing awareness of STEM skills in all careers for students, mentors, and teachers
  • Creating partnerships between universities, schools, and industry

Our partner universities:

  • La Trobe University
  • RMIT University
  • Swinburne University of Technology
  • The University of Melbourne
  • Deakin University
