Ian Gawler OAM
Dr Ian Gawler OAM BVSc MCounsHS has played a significant part in popularising meditation and Mind-Body Medicine in the western world. Ian is a retired veterinarian, long term cancer survivor and international bestselling author who has written and taught widely on meditation for over 45 years. He has had many great teachers and since 1985 has focused upon Tibetan Buddhism and the Dzogchen tradition under Sogyal Rinpoche, the author of the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. Ian has also played an active role in the interfaith movement and was instrumental in establishing the Centres for Contemplative Studies at both Melbourne and Monash Universities. With a gift for translating ancient wisdom into a modern context, Ian is known for his clarity and humour. He is author of 6 bestselling books, the latest, Blue Sky Mind.
Ian was awarded the Order of Australia Medal for his services to the community in 1987.
