Friends Of The Earth
Waddamuli (Hello) In August 2021 Wangan and Jagalingou Traditional Owners and Cultural Custodians set up a stone Bora ring and ceremonial ground opposite Adani’s coal mine in Central Queensland, and since that day, a W&J person has been maintaining a presence inside the Bora Ring around the clock, even on blistering hot days and cold stormy nights. This special place is a cultural hub named Waddananggu, which means "The Talking" in the Wirdi language.
The Wangan and Jagalingou people plan on maintaining a permanent presence on Country until their human rights as Traditional Owners are recognised.
This re-occupation is the Wangan and Jagalingou asserting their human rights to practise culture in their homelands and protect Country from extractive industries, fulfil their cultural obligation to protect the lands and waters and bring up their young people, thus safeguarding the future of their Dreaming stories.
For the W&J First Nation to be strong and grounded in their rights to continue to live and practice in direct connection to Country, culture and LORE we are CALLING ALL ALLIES! -please come along to this fun and informative evening of trivia, music and entertainment to support W&J in the continued reoccupation of their ancestral homelands.
We are basing this event on a PWYC (Pay What You Can) model, so everyone can afford to attend, but all are encouraged to donate as generously as they wish to keep Waddanggu standing against Adani.
