Farm-Link is a Commonwealth funded rural suicide prevention program, funded under Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network, managed by the University of Newcastle’s Centre for Rural and Remote Mental Health (CRRMH). Farm-Link aims to improve the mental wellbeing of people living and working on farms and those living in rural communities. This is largely achieved by delivering a suicide prevention skills workshop (SPSW) to rural communities, frontline agricultural workers, and the farming community. This workshop has been well evaluated and has shown to decrease stigma around suicide, increase literacy around suicide, and improve confidence in multiple areas, such as identifying mental distress in other people, conversing with a person, and assisting them to professional help. Farm-Link is currently funded to service the New England North West region of NSW.
