designed OT

Margaret Bryan and Claire Cunningham have over 40 years' combined experience as occupational therapists in the home modifications field.  Both have practiced extensively in Western Australia and are familiar with the nuances of practice within the state.  They have come together as designed OT to pass on their knowledge and passion for the area to the next wave of OTs.

Margaret held the Occupational Therapy service contract for the Housing Authority for over twenty years, with her business Design for Independence.  She was a pioneer in establishing the service and has consulted on multiple home modifications and several hundred custom builds.  She has a wealth of knowledge and practical skills in the area.  Margaret is an associate member of the Association of Consultants in Access Australia.

Claire has worked in a number of practice areas, most notably as a home visiting and home modifications therapist, and as a Disability Access Consultant for public buildings in the commercial sector.  Claire has a passion for accessible design and currently directs her own private practice, Planot, specialising in consulting for major structural home modifications and new builds.  She also works within the medico-legal field, formulating equipment, home modification, housing and care needs for those who have been catastrophically injured.  Prior to studying occupational therapy, Claire obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science in Architectural Science.  She is an accredited member of the Association of Consultants in Access Australia, a registered Livable Housing Assessor and is currently working towards a Certificate IV in Residential Building Design.
