Promoting greater use of the assistant and support workforce in disability

 

As demand for allied health services increases under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), there is a need for new workforce and service models that make the best use of available skills across the workforce. There are significant opportunities to expand the roles and use of allied health assistants in disability services. There are also significant opportunities for disability support workers and community care workers to work more closely with allied health professionals to improve the support for people with a disability.

The supervision and delegation framework for allied health assistants and support workers (the framework) is a document that will guide allied health professionals in safely and effectively working with allied health assistants and disability support workforce to provide allied health services in disability services.

 

The training

 

This training is for allied health professionals and managers working with the support workforce in disability, and provides information and guidance on the framework, including safe and effective delegation and supervision of the support workforce in allied health. The training also provides an opportunity to discuss and demonstrate the benefits the support workforce can bring to allied health service provision.
