City of Gold Coast NaturallyGC Program

The City's Naturally Gold Coast program provides opportunities for the community to connect, explore and conserve nature through hundreds of free and low-cost workshops, activities, and local festivals.

We have partnered with community groups, local businesses and not for profit organisations to create a Program that implements environmental conservation actions across our city, including community education, citizen science, and increasing community involvement through volunteering.

The program delivers nature-based environmental education to connect people with nature, which fosters a sense of community care for ecosystems, build environmental knowledge, and promote sustainable behaviours to improve our environment. There are learning activities catered for all ages and abilities, including guided walks, filed excursions, nature photography, educational presentations, interactive workshops, festivals, film screenings, flora and fauna surveys, and so much more.

The Landcare element of the Program has created a large community of volunteers as it connects like-minded people that share the same mission to protect and restore our natural environment. Our Landcare program delivers more than 120 community sessions annually, providing volunteers with the opportunity to plant over 60,000 native trees every year across priority conservation land within our city. Together with our volunteers we can become more connected, educated, and skilled to drive collaborative positive change to our natural environment.

There are many local non-for-profit organisations that are conducting environmental research through citizen science. Our Program helps promote these organisations and connect them with community members and groups who share a common vision and can be involved in their citizen science projects.
