Centre for Urban Transitions
The Centre for Urban Transitions investigates innovative planning and governance strategies for creating just, healthy and productive cities. It does so by identifying the changes that need to be made within urban areas and focusing on how to make those transitions. This work is approached through local, national and global lenses. Our researchers have strong national and international links with researchers and policymakers from around the world.
Thematically our research on sustainable urban transitions is organised into three themes:
1) Regenerating our cities: investigating the reduction of carbon intensity to reshape our cities and meet sustainable development goals.
2) Housing transitions: investigating the restructuring of housing markets and the associated spatial distribution of urban resources.
3) New ways of urban living: investigating how and why urban actors develop more sustainable, equitable and productive urban life styles.
