Canberra Gay and Lesbian Tennis Club Incorporated
Gay social tennis has been played on Monday nights in Canberra for 40 years since 1978. It is an informal group which meets at the Turner Tennis Courts from 6:00-9:00pm every Monday. It caters for different standards of tennis with a friendly social atmosphere. Those attending range in age from 20-60. Some people opt to go out for dinner afterwards. There are no membership fees and players can just turn up. There is a $5 charge for those playing.
The Tennis Club has been running the annual Bushdance at the Yarralumla Woolshed since 1984. It is a very popular event and the money earned from the event is used to subsidise Monday night tennis, and the bulk of the profit is used to support other LGBTIQ groups in Canberra.
