Absolute Theatre

Absolute Theatre exists to make extraordinary, stimulating theatre, create new audiences and promote wider engagement with live performance. The company was established in 1991 and acquired a reputation for an innovative, highly visual style, offering a sensorial, emotional and intellectual experience not available through any other medium. Besides creating a sucession of remarkable shows and rehearsed readings, it has established strong connections with other theatres and arts bodies, in particular, the Theatre Royal Bath, where the company’s creative team was involved in a number of productions which included ’Twelfth Night’, a new adaptation of ‘Electra’, several youth theatre shows and a revue piece for the Bath Shakespeare Festival. Our 2018 collaboration with Portuguese company Teatro do Montemuro resulted in ‘Os 4 Clowns do Apocalipse’, which toured internationally and has inspired a continuing relationship with clowning.
