SalamFest, Festival of Peace

A three day Muslim Arts Festival, SalamFest will be held at the iconic State Library of Victoria from Friday 24 November - Sunday 26 November 2017. We welcome the entire community to celebrate and explore new cultures and enjoy the long standing artistic offerings of the diverse Muslim culture and heritage. SalamFest captures the true essence of Muslim culture and arts which is that of ‘Peace, Love and Compassion’. The festival is an opportunity for Australian Muslims to celebrate their diversity; connect and share their stories, values, arts, culture and cuisine with the wider Victorian community in the true spirit of multiculturalism.

This festival includes Sufi poets, whirling dervishes, musicians, mosaic artists, contemporary rap artists, traditional and modern singers and performers, meditation space, interactive art workshops, panel discussions, various talks, films, conversation salons, giveaways, and much more. Activities will take place in the State Library of Victoria’s forecourt directly in front of the State Library of Victoria on Swanston Street, and in a range of selected rooms within the library.
