About this Event
Youth Mental Health First Aid is a 14-hour course that teaches adults (18 years and over) how to provide initial support to adolescents who are developing a mental illness, are experiencing an ongoing mental illness and/or are experiencing a mental health crisis.
The course provides current statistics and information about the following mental illnesses: depression, anxiety problems, eating disorders, psychosis and substance use problems. The course also provides information in how to support and assist young people in the following mental health crises: suicidal thoughts and behaviours, non-suicidal self-injury, traumatic events, severe psychotic states and aggressive behaviours.
The course will be run on over four consecutive Thursday nights (6th, 13th, 20th and 27th May 2021) from 5.30-9pm. Minimum numbers need to be achieved (i.e., 5+ participants) for course to proceed. Confirmation email with details of venue and other course information will be sent two weeks prior to the course commencing.
Course cost includes manual. Please bring your own drinks and snacks.
