Youth Meetup: Vegan Potluck & Kirtan Music Jam with Circle of Friends
Event Information
About this Event
Find your people, fill your bellies, feed your soul.
We'll begin by building a beautiful mandala on the floor made from leaves and flowers that we will then sit around for our kirtan.
What is kirtan? Kirtan is the yogic tradition of sacred music. Everyone loves music, singing and dancing as well as expressing their creativity and connecting with friends. Every traditional culture has a means of expressing this natural tendency. Kirtan takes our natural love for music and song and elevates it to a spiritual practice that connects us to the Supreme Soul, to each other and to the world around us.
Kirtan is joyful and uplifting but at the same time, relieves stress and anxiety and brings a deep inner peace and happiness. Most of the kirtan will be call and response with one person leading the singing and everyone else singing afterwards. You'll feel completely supported and be able to blend in easily with the response.
Part of the evening will be a music jam where we'll teach chords and rhythms and everyone will be invited to play and lead part of the kirtan. No experience is necessary, we'll all help each other.
The last part of the evening will be a chance to catch up over a delicious vegan potluck meal.
We're looking forward to meeting you and making new friends.
Bring a vegan dish to share or make a donation towards the meal.
Bring a musical instrument if you have one.
