Have you ever wondered what happens to your recycling once you put it in your yellow-lidded recycling bin? Well here is your chance to find out! City of Ryde residents are invited on a free tour of the Visy Materials Recycling Facility at Smithfield where materials from your yellow-lidded recycling bin are sorted. After the tour of Visy we will return to the Ryde Library (across the road from the Civic Centre) for a light afternoon tea and short presentation including tips for recycling and how to reduce your waste going to landfill.

When: Tuesday 10 April 2018

When: 9.00am - 1.30pm (arrive 8.45am)

Where: Meet at the Ryde Civic Centre car park where a bus will take us to and from Smithfield.

Address: Civic Centre, 1 Devlin St, Ryde

Who: City of Ryde residents who are over 18 years of age.

Clothing and Footwear:

* Footwear must be sturdy (eg. steel capped boots if possible), fully enclosed and have a sole that is non-slip, solid and not easily pierced by glass. Sandals, thongs, high heels or soft soled shoes are NOT permitted.

* Long sleeved shirt and long trousers to your ankles must be worn at all times. Clothing must be suitable for walking.

Bring: A packed lunch or snack to enjoy on the bus and a sense of adventure.

Notes:

* This tour is strictly limited to people who are 18 years of age and over.

* Sections of this tour are not appropriate for people with pacemakers because the recycling facility uses industrial magnets in the sorting process.

* Participants will be required to walk up two flights of stairs. If you have acrophobia (a fear of heights) please consider if this tour is appropriate for you.

* Due to parking restrictions at the Civic Centre car park, public transport is recommended.

Cost: FREE. Bus transport and complementary light afternoon tea is provided at no cost.

Bookings: Advanced bookings essential. Book early as places are strictly limited and this session is expected to reach full capacity.
