NSW public schools are invited to join Aurora College for a 40 - minute interactive presentation by the Office of the eSafety Commissioner for Safer Internet Day (SID).

The intended audience for this event is primary school students in years 4 to 6.

This presentation encourages students to recognise the personal and social capabilities that are important for creating positive online environments. Students will explore skills, including: communicating with respect; developing resilience; using reasoning and choosing to act responsibly.

This session is designed to empower students to draw on key strengths to help combat serious online issues such as cyberbullying and misinformation. At the end of the session, students will make a pledge to use their personal strengths to create a better internet not only today, but every day.

This presentation will address outcomes from the new NSW PDHPE syllabus, including:

  • Explains and uses strategies to develop resilience and to make them feel comfortable and safe (PD2-2).
  • Demonstrates self-management skills to respond to their own and others’ actions (PD2-9).
  • Selects and uses interpersonal skills to interact respectfully with others to promote inclusion and build connections (PD3-10).
  • Describes how contextual factors are interrelated and how they influence health, safety, wellbeing and participation in physical activity (PD2-6).

It will also address general capabilities for learning across the curriculum including:

  • Personal and social capability.
  • Information and communication technology capability.
