Funding opportunity: Programs + Teacher Capacity Building

This session is to give Principals and school leaders a preview of the funded opportunity to bring Young Change Agents to your school. There are 5 funded opportunities available for Term 2, 2018 for a 2.5 day program for up to 40 females and 2 teachers. Thanks to a co-investment from YouthWorX NT, each participating school will also receive $2400 towards teacher relief. Teachers will have an immersive experience alongside the students plus gain access to online learning, resources and support from Young Change Agents to rollout the program to additional students in the future. What are people saying about Young Change Agents?

“We saw that the [YCA] program was a great mix of two things for our girls: (1) the design thinking process and (2) the whole entrepreneurial style of ideas being mixed with the social conscious which was important for us” – Belinda Kelly, Principal Riverside Girls High School

“After participating in the YCA program, I realized we could apply much of what we had experienced to the teaching of the CITQ (commerce) unit. I reflected on the YCA process, and identified that their techniques were directly applicable and would have the added benefit of giving our students the opportunity to develop their empathic skills, which is an identified focus area for our girls. These techniques have been considered during the planning process and will now form a crucial part of the teaching of the CITQ unit". Year 9 Commerce Teacher

"The main aim of [our entrepreneurial idea] was to get Alzheimer's patients to express their thoughts creatively, so they can hopefully develop a deeper identity and connect themselves to the community," Student Participant

“I came in with the mentality that I couldn’t make a difference, but honestly I am leave with the reality that I can” Youth Participant

“Young Change Agents provides a rare educational experience because it does not merely ask students to observe and catalog the world, but rather, to mold it. After learning how the world operates in a conventional classroom, YCA helps answer the often unarticulated question that lingers in the back of many students' minds: 'now what are you going to do about it?” Douglas Abdiel, Strategy and Operations Manager, Google
