You can’t ask that – Lived Expertise
Overview
Lived expertise is increasingly recognised as a vital part of effective practice but it’s not always openly discussed or understood.
This online panel and learning exchange creates space for thoughtful, honest conversation about how lived expertise shows up in real work settings. We’ll explore questions that are often left unasked, assumptions that can sit beneath the surface, and the practical ways lived experience strengthens engagement, trust, and outcomes.
Michelle Debert and other members of the Queensland Lived Expertise Community of Practice will share how they draw on their experiences in their roles, the challenges they navigate, and the unique skills this brings to work towards systems reform.
This session is designed to support reflection, learning, and improved practice across the sector as we build the lived experience movement in homelessness. While the conversation may stretch perspectives, it will be grounded in respect, professionalism, and a commitment to safe and ethical work.
Ideal for frontline workers, leaders, managers, and anyone interested in better understanding and valuing lived expertise in practice.
