Description

You cannot NOT communicate: Using branding basics to market yourself and your research

The way you present yourself and your research sends messages whether you intend to or not. Branding is simply a strategy for making sure the messages you send are the right ones, to the right people. Whatever your goal: be it finding a job, new collaborators and opportunities, or making a difference in the world, there are simple branding techniques that can help. This presentation will help you identify what’s unique about you as a researcher, who needs to know about you and your research, how they can find you, and once they notice how to make them care. We will cover finding your authentic researcher self and your point of difference and using these to define an editorial voice. You will identify the appropriate social media channel(s) and how to populate them with the right content, as well as basic visual strategies and resources to create professional materials such as resumes and blogs.

By the end of this workshop you will:

• Define your authentic researcher identity and voice

• Create a strategy to find and communicate the appropriate messages to the right audience(s)

• Plan a suite of professional materials to promote yourself and your research

This workshop will be presented by Anitra Nottingham, a super rad human who is loved and adored wherever she treads virtually and physically.
