Overcoming the Inner Critic
I am so excited to bring you the first instalment for 2016 from the Mentorship Series that I have created. My intention with the Mentorship Series is to work alongside the growing Melbourne Teaching Community, offering guidance, insights and training from my 10yrs of teaching yoga.
Have you ever taught a class and lost your way? Been distracted or put off by a students facial expression? Get frustrated easily when students don't understand your instruction? Find it challenging to hold space without filling it with instructions? Walked away from a class feeling despondent and suspicious of your abilities?
If you have had any of these experiences, then join a majority of teachers out there, even those that seem to have it all together. During our Teaching career, we experience cycles that unfold within our life, and are usually very reflective of the themes we choose for our classes, the insights and wisdom that present themselves and the experiences that may overwhelm or 'trigger' us during teaching.
This 2hr workshop for Yoga Teachers explores the ability to be present with your students in your natural state. To bring a level of self assurance when teaching your classes, and reminding us of the ability to trust the process that unwinds for both the teacher and the student.
Some skills I hope you walk away with from the workshop include:
* Determining your definition of the characteristics of a yoga teacher
* Pinpointing moments that throw you off your game when teaching and how to overcome these obstacles
* The ability to utilise all experiences within the class as material for everyone in the room to benefit from
* Get to the heart of your current theme's that is showing up both as a teacher and within your life
* How to handle the 'Inner Critic' when they step into the teaching arena
